Weekly Theme- Movie Inspired

I was chosen to pick this week’s theme and I was ready for it. I decided I was going to do a Friday the 13th mani and this meant movie inspired nails. This is a mani I’ve wanted to do for some time now. I am a pretty big fan of Friday the 13th (Freddy vs. Jason and before, I hate the remakes) and was really looking forward to these nails.

I started with a clear base coat then used Wet ‘N’ Wild Ebony Hates Chris on every finger but the middle. For the middle finger I used Rimmel London White Hot Love.

I let the nails completely dry before moving on to the next step. Normally I do my nails early in the day so they dry quickly and won’t smear when I go to bed.

Next step was to start working on the mask. I will admit I had to keep readjusting it. I was either too far down or too up. I started with the eyes using Wet ‘N’ Wild Ebony Hates Chris then Milani Rapid Cherry for the lines. For the nose hole I used a lighter color, silver, I used Wet ‘N’ Wild Metallica. As you can tell in the picture I had to redo the top holes.

Next I started working on the other nails. For this mani I was going to need “blood.” This is easy to achieve using a straw and red polish. Warning: this is very messy so be sure to have paper on your work station.

You put a good amount of polish on the end of the straw and blow hard over the nail. For a better splat put some distance between the nail and the straw.

Next I used Rimmel London White Hot Love to do Friday the 13th on the ring finger and pinky.

I had to do this at least 4-5 times. It’s really hard writing on nails.

The 13th wasn’t as hard. Here’s the 13th with some “blood.”

Next step was the machete. I used Wet ‘N’ Wild Metallica and Finger Paints Sketch-y as the blade and handle. It’s kind of hard to see the handle but in the right light you can see it.

Next step was to bloody up everything.

Last step is a top coat and clean up.

What’s your favorite scary movie? And would you recreate it on your nails?

Weekly Theme- Patchwork Quilt

This week’s theme was patchwork quilts. The ironic thing about this is before starting my nails art I considered making patchwork quilts. They looked amazing and after having my son someone threw out the quilt I had just bought. While my son would nap I would start cleaning and since I wasn’t leaving the apartment I needed something to occupy my mind. I started looking up patchwork quilts and thought, “I would LOVE to do these.” I found some local clubs, saw the work, and decided I needed another hobby. That’s when I took up nail art and here we are.

Okay back to the mani 🙂 thanks for listening.

After applying a clear base coat I used Rimmel London White Hot Love, LA Colors Color Craze blue (no polish name on it), OPI Teal The Cows Come Home, Barielle Shades Blue Cotton Candy  in random areas on my nails but skipped the ring finger.

I used OPI Teal The Cows Come Home for the ring finger. I love blue but this is one blue I do not like. This polish was just too watery for me and I had to use 3-4 coats for a decent cover.

This was after 2 coats and you can still see my nail under.

After another coat, I let the polish completely dry then started working on my teddy bear.

I added lines to the other nails to give it more of a patch feel.

Last step was clean up and a top coat.
